SFR Community On Amazon

I happened to be doing something or other public-spirited in nature on my personal Amazon Communities home page (Your Communities) when "Linnea Sinclair" popped up.

I thought that I saw that Linnea Sinclair had just tagged Rebels and Lovers  However, now I poke around on the SFR community, I think it must have been Laurie G who did the tagging. It is quite alarming how little privacy one enjoys on Amazon.

Laurie G, Jacqueline Lichtenberg and this author are currently the top ranked "Contributors" in the SFR Community on Amazon. This simply means that we have taken the trouble to add "sfr" as a tag to other authors' books in order to help readers find SFR works if they happen to search by "SFR".

Once a "Community" is created on Amazon, through "tags" anyone can vote on the tags, start a discussion (which one hopes will be relevant), add images and more. At the moment, the SFR community is thinly populated.

If you have a book, or a friend, or a stake in the future of SFR to promote, please take a look.

  1. Wow, didn't realize I was a top-rated contributor for the SFR community. I'm flattered, but also a bit dismayed, because I haven't really been all that active as to be classified a "top" contributor.

Over on SFR Brigade (a community for SFR writers, authors and professionals cleverly disguised as a blog), we've instituted a weekly tagging party for SFR novels. REBELS AND LOVERS was one of our selections last week. We've only been at it for two weeks, so I hope over time it will help the Amazon SFR Community grow as well as promote SFR novels. I have to agree that, at present, the Amazon community is quite anemic.

If anyone is interested in joining in on our Thursday Book Tag Party, you're welcome to stop by the SFR Brigade site as this address: http://www.sfrcontests.blogspot.com
Thanks for bringing this to light, Rowena.

  2. Hi, Laurie,

I'd love to join your book tag party. My own sfr books (Mating Net, Forced Mate, Insufficient Mating Material, and Knight's Fork) only appear to have one sfr tag each.

Did you realize that every time anyone makes a comment on an existing sfr topic, or starts a new SFR topic, all "related" communities on Amazon get an alert?

  3. I did not realize that. Great information to have.

It seems the Amazon SFR Community has untapped potential for the promotion of SFR.

And you are most welcome to join the SFR Brigaders on our weekly Thursday Tagging Party. The more the merrier!

  4. Alas, Laurie, I took a look.

Joining won't help my novels Mating Net, Forced Mate, Insufficient Mating Material, and Knight's Fork because the rules stipulate that the releases have to be recent (within the last 6 months).

It hardly seems fair... but new authors' releases do need more exposure.

One thing to be aware of is that if a participant is aiming for high personal visibility, her score goes down if she places a negative vote to bump another book down below her favorites. (Not that I have done this).

  5. I need either a clone or a magic potion to eliminate my need for sleep so I can do more activities like this, LOL! I love my 4yr old daughter, but...time, I need more time!

The Amazon SFR community has been on my mind every since I first came across you mentioning it, Rowena. I agree it's a crucial place to raise visibility.

I think Laurie's idea to organize scheduled tag parties is a great idea. I personally appreciate having structured guidance like that.

Well, I'm headed over there now to catch up on some tagging.... And it's Monday, so I'm way ahead of schedule, ha!

  6. Heather,
For those short of time, simply going to the page and "Agreeing" with the sfr tags is a good short cut.

One can also click on the "Add more products" to add authors/books one feels should be added to the community.
